Turkey updates cross-border personal data protection rules

Turkey issued new Cross-Border Personal Data Transfer Guidelines clarifying legal requirements for companies that transfer personal data abroad.

The guidelines, effective from early 2025, expand mechanisms for lawful data transfers under Turkish Law No. 6698 and align more closely with the EU’s GDPR, simplifying compliance for digital services and international contracts involving data flows.
